2022 Calera Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir Sanford and Benedict Vineyard
In Stock
Since our founding in 1975, we have been devoted to crafting wines that embody the purity, elegance, and aging potential of the Central Coast’s finest vineyards. Planted in 1971, Sanford and Benedict was the first vineyard established in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, laying the foundation for this renowned winegrowing region. Its unique location, influenced by cool air and fog from the nearby Pacific Ocean and defined by ideal clay loam soils, yields a beautifully structured Pinot Noir with supple tannins, savory spice, and layered flavors of raspberry and black cherry.

Winemaker Notes
This single-vineyard Pinot Noir reveals a captivating interplay of raspberry, blackberry, and rhubarb, anchored by silky tannins that enhance its depth. Black cherry and subtle allspice add layers of complexity, culminating in a compelling finish.
Production
The 2022 growing season on the Central Coast began with below-average rainfall and moderate spring temperatures, setting the stage for an excellent budbreak and bloom. Warm summer days and ideal conditions across the region ensured steady and balanced fruit development. A boost of warmth in early September accelerated ripening, allowing us to begin harvest just after Labor Day and finish by late September—one of our earliest harvests to date. The result is a collection of wines celebrated for their richness, complexity, and vibrant acidity.
